The Early Optimism
Hey Cubs fans! I know it's tough to read a game recap when our team didn't come out on top, but there were definitely some bright spots worth noting. The game started off with some promise as Dansby Swanson hustled his way around the bases and scored the first run for the Cubs with the help of a solid double by Pete Crow-Armstrong. Seeing the guys take advantage of opportunities early on got me pretty excited!

The Wheels Come Off
Unfortunately, things started to spiral in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Eugenio Suárez of the Diamondbacks went deep not once, but twice, against our pitching. That second homer of 418 feet was just a dagger. The Diamondbacks' bats were relentless, and despite some good efforts, our pitchers couldn't quite contain them. Pavin Smith and company kept the hits coming like a freight train.

Missed Opportunities
One of the most frustrating moments was the top of the 4th when Crow-Armstrong got picked off at first and really killed the momentum. And it was hard to see the Diamondbacks capitalize on every single one of our errors, which only widened the gap. Kyle Tucker and Seiya Suzuki made some great plays here and there, but it just wasn’t enough.
Focus on the Future
While it was a rough game, these experiences are valuable for our young roster. Matt Shaw and Carson Kelly, like the rest of the team, will learn from this and be better next time. There's still a lot of potential there, and their development is the silver lining.
We might have left Arizona without a win, but we keep our heads high and eyes on the upcoming games. Better days are coming, Cubs fans. Let's keep cheering on our boys, no matter what!

Hang in there and see you all at the next game thread!
