Tough Night in Cincinnati
Hey Cubs fans! Another rough outing for our Cubbies as we took on the Reds and ended up on the wrong side of a 1-7 loss. Let's break down what happened.Early Opportunities, But No Execution
We had our chances in the early innings. In the top of the 1st, Nico Hoerner grounded out, then Michael Busch walked, but Seiya Suzuki's fielder's choice and Mike Tauchman's strikeout left us scoreless. The Reds also couldn't capitalize in the 1st thanks to some solid defense and pitching.Second Inning Struggles
In the 2nd inning, the Reds got on the board thanks to Will Benson's two-run homer off Jameson Taillon. Our bats were still quiet, and we needed something to get going.Missed Chances, Reds Extend Lead
By the 5th inning, the Reds extended their lead to 6-0 with TJ Friedl's three-run bomb. Our offense couldn't catch a break, as Dansby Swanson, Patrick Wisdom, and Miguel Amaya all went down swinging or grounding out.Bats Go Silent
Our offense didn't fare any better in the later innings. Even with Hoerner's single and stolen base in the 6th, we still couldn’t drive in any runs. The Reds' Tyler Stephenson added another run with a homer in the 8th to finally make it 7-0.Solo Shot by Busch, Not Enough
In the top of the 9th, Busch managed to hit a solo homer, but it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback. The Cubbies went down swinging and flew out too many times.Final Thoughts
It's a tough pill to swallow, but hopefully, we can regroup and come back stronger. We'll need better execution offensively and keep that pitching tight. Hang in there, Cubs Nation! Let's stay hopeful for the next game.On to the next one! Go Cubs Go!
