A Tough Night in Houston
Hey, Cubs fans!
Early Struggles
The game started slow with both teams holding each other scoreless in the first two innings. A highlight, though, was Dansby Swanson’s triple to left field in the top of the second, which looked promising but unfortunately didn't turn into a run.
Come the bottom of the third, we found ourselves in hot water as Yainer Díaz hit a three-run homer to left-center, putting the Astros ahead 4-0. That homer followed a sacrifice fly by Victor Caratini. Ouch.

Finding Some Ground
In the fourth inning, the Astros extended their lead to 7-0 with a three-run home by Cam Smith. But fear not – Nico Hoerner whacked a solo homer to left center in the top of the fifth, giving us our first run of the game!
The top of the seventh brought us some hope as Matt Shaw drove in Carson Kelly and Hoerner with a double to left, trimming the Astros lead to 7-3. The change from reliever Okert to Sousa helped to slow things down for the Cubs.
A Fighting Finish
The Cubs continued to fight into the ninth. With two outs, Kelly showcased some great base running, advancing to third after a wild pitch. Shaw came up clutch again with another double to left field, allowing Kelly to score and nudging the score to 7-4. Despite our efforts, we couldn't close the gap any further, and the game ended with Ian Happ lining out to center.Even with this setback, we had some bright moments and it's clear we've got the talent to bounce back in our upcoming games. Let’s keep rallying behind our Cubbies as we look forward to future victories!
