Heartbreaker at Angel Stadium
Oh boy, Angels fans, this was a tough one to swallow. We hosted the Chicago Cubs for what turned out to be a nail-biter, ultimately finishing with a 4-3 loss. Let's dive into the highlights and see how it all unfolded.Early Spark with Taylor Ward's Homer!
The game started off on a promising note for us, with Taylor Ward delivering a powerful solo home run to left-center in the bottom of the first inning!
Mid-Game Drama
In the top of the 3rd, the Cubs tied it up with a single from Kyle Tucker driving in Matt Shaw. The fourth inning saw them edge ahead 2-1 due to an RBI double from Nico Hoerner. Things got a bit dicey in the fifth as more runs crossed the plate for the Cubs after a sacrifice fly by Pete Crow-Armstrong and an RBI single from Carson Kelly, bringing the score to 4-1.The Rally That Almost Was...
But it wasn't over just yet!
The Final Innings and Missed Chances
Heartbreakingly, despite Luis Rengifo's efforts to get on base in the 9th and Yoan Moncada walking to put more pressure on the Cubs, we just couldn't capitalize. Both Christian Moore and Bryce Teodosio went down swinging, ending our chances of a comeback.
Even with the result not going our way, there are positives to take away. A solid effort from the bullpen kept us in it, and Taylor Ward continues to be a superstar for the team!
