Game Chicago Cubs @ Los Angeles Dodgers (September 11th, 2024)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Tough Loss for the Cubs, but a Fight to the End!

Hey Cubs faithful, tough one today as we fell to the Dodgers 10-8, but wow, what a battle! 🎢 From the get-go, it was a rollercoaster, and our boys showed some serious grit. Let's break it down inning by inning.

A Strong Start

We came out swinging in the 1st inning. Ian Happ lined out, and Dansby Swanson grounded out, but then Seiya Suzuki and Cody Bellinger walked, setting the table for Isaac Paredes’ RBI single. Michael Busch followed up with a double, bringing home another run. We quickly took a 2-0 lead, making us all hopeful for a great game ahead.

Dodgers' Answer in the 1st Inning

Unfortunately, the Dodgers came right back with a barrage of home runs. Shohei Ohtani, Tommy Edman, Will Smith, and Max Muncy all went deep. The score flipped dramatically to 5-2 in favor of the Dodgers. Ouch! 😩

Bouncing Back in the 3rd Inning

Not to be outdone, Seiya Suzuki homered in the 3rd inning, narrowing the gap to 5-3. Unfortunately, the Dodgers extended their lead in the bottom of the inning, with Ohtani knocking in two more runs.

The Mid-Game Slump and Electrifying Comeback

The next few innings saw our bats go a bit quiet, and despite holding the Dodgers scoreless in the 4th and 5th innings, we were still down 7-3. But then the 5th inning happened! 🎉

Ian Happ singled, Dansby Swanson walked, setting the stage for Cody Bellinger who crushed a homer to center! Boom! In the blink of an eye, it was 7-6. Isaac Paredes walked, Michael Busch walked too, and a single from Pete Crow-Armstrong tied things up at 7-7. Absolutely thrilling! 🌟

Tough 7th and 8th Innings

The game remained even until the bottom of the 7th, where the Dodgers snatched a one-run lead. They extended this in the 8th with a two-run homer from Tommy Edman, making it 10-7.

Final Push in the 9th Inning

We didn't give up easily in the 9th. Dansby Swanson, Seiya Suzuki, and Cody Bellinger all walked, loading the bases. A sac fly from Isaac Paredes brought home one, but Seiya Suzuki was caught stealing, which really hurt our momentum. Michael Busch struck out, bringing an end to our valiant effort.

Conclusion

Heartbreaking loss, yes, but you’ve gotta be proud of our Cubs' fight. We may have lost 10-8, but we never gave in and showed resilience throughout. Here’s to bouncing back stronger in the next game! Go Cubs Go! 💙🧡
