A Tough Loss in the Big Apple
Well, fellow Cubs fans, today was a tough one in New York as we faced the Mets. Although we started strong with Pete Crow-Armstrong hitting a sweet solo homer in the 6th inning, we just couldn't keep up with the Mets' bats.
Early Struggles
Both teams started the game with a string of strikeouts in the first inning. It looked like it was going to be a pitchers' duel early on. The Cubs struggled to get anything going, as our batters just couldn't find their stride against the Mets' pitching. Kyle Tucker and Seiya Suzuki each went down swinging, striking out in the opening inning.Mid-Game Action
In the second inning, the Mets got on the board first with Luis Torrens hitting a triple to center, allowing Starling Marte to score. That was a tough break, but we responded in the 6th with Pete Crow-Armstrong's impressive home run that tied the game at 1-1.
Nico Hoerner stepped up in the 7th inning, bringing Michael Busch home with a solid double to tie the game again at 2-2. But the joy was short-lived as the Mets answered back.
Mets' Late Surge
In the 8th inning, the Mets pulled away, starting with a homer by Francisco Lindor. Pete Alonso and Brett Baty added to the lead with key hits, turning the score to 6-2. The bullpen just couldn’t hold them off, and the Mets' bats came alive right when they needed them.Final Inning
Despite our hopes for a late rally in the 9th, the Cubs couldn't mount a comeback. Seiya Suzuki, Michael Busch, and Carson Kelly all grounded out, leaving us with a final score of 6-2.It's not the result us Cubs' fans were hoping for, but we'll rally around our team, as loyal fans always do. Let's keep our heads high and look to bounce back in the next game! Go Cubs go!
