Game Chicago Cubs @ New York Yankees (July 11th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Tough Day for Our Cubs!

Hey Cubs fans! So, today was one of those games that put our loyalty to the test. Let’s just say our Cubbies didn’t have it easy against the Yankees. Despite the efforts of folks like Nico Hoerner and Justin Turner, the bats were pretty quiet, and the Yankees definitely had the upper hand, wrapping up the game with a solid 11-0 victory. 🙁

Early Inning Frustrations

The first inning gave us a glimmer of hope when Kyle Tucker singled to left, but we couldn't capitalize from there as Seiya Suzuki struck out and Carson Kelly grounded out. Our pitcher managed to keep the Yankees at bay during their lineup, with Jasson Dominguez getting called out on strikes, and a couple of outs following. It was still anybody’s game going into the second inning at 0-0.

Third Inning Challenges

Things started to unravel for us in the bottom of the third. A sacrifice fly by Aaron Judge brought Oswald Peraza home, and then Cody Bellinger hammered a two-run homer. Before we knew it, we were trailing by three, and unfortunately, it just got tougher from there.

Mid and Late Game Struggles

Our lineup found it hard to break Carlos Rodón's pitching with strikeouts and flyouts continuing through the innings. By the 5th, Bellinger showed his prowess again with another homer, extending the Yankees' lead to 5-0. The 6th inning saw Paul Goldschmidt and Anthony Volpe drive home more runs, pushing that lead further.

Last Inning Attempts and Yankees' Wrap-Up

In the 7th, our bullpen rotation didn't manage to shut down the Yankees, and their batting lineup delivered yet again with consecutive hits. The Yankees added salt to the wound in the 8th with another Bellinger HOME RUN 🤯! His multidimensional game truly put us on the back foot throughout.

Final Reflections

Even though it was a tough loss, there were a few sparks here and there from our team to appreciate. On a brighter note, Vidal Brujan managed a double in the 9th, but closing it out was difficult as we witnessed Matt Shaw and Dansby Swanson unable to capitalize. An 11-0 defeat isn’t easy, but far and wide, we are Cubbie loyalists at heart. 🐻💙 Here’s hoping we come bouncing back stronger in the next game! Go Cubs Go! 💪🏻
