Inauspicious Start
The game kicked off with the Cubs quickly getting on the board, thanks to a triple by
Nico Hoerner followed by a groundout that allowed him to score.

Despite some promising moments, our boys including
Paul Goldschmidt,
Cody Bellinger, and
Aaron Judge were facing the wind, unable to get any hits in the bottom of the first inning. End of 1st inning: Cubs 1, Yankees 0.
Missed Opportunities and Errors
The Cubs capitalized again in the 3rd inning. A messy sequence of plays and a costly error by
Jazz Chisholm Jr. allowed the Cubs to extend their lead. It was heartbreak

after heartbreak, as hitters like
Giancarlo Stanton and
Trent Grisham weren’t able to put anything on the board. By the end of the 3rd, the Cubs were ahead 4-0. Our middle inning performances struggled against the Cubs' strong defense and efficient pitching.
Late Rally Falls Short
Finally, some fireworks in the 9th inning

! After a ground-rule double by
Bellinger,
Judge showed his superstar flair with an exhilarating home run to cut the lead – Bellinger trotted home, and the Yankees were on the scoreboard!

But alas, even after
Stanton was hit by a pitch, the rally sputtered, and our effort fell short, ending the game in defeat – Yankees 2, Cubs 5.
Tough game, Yankees fans, but we saw flashes of brilliance (and power!) that remind us there's always hope for the next showdown. Let's keep the faith!
