Early Cubs Lead

What a fantastic start for the Cubs! In the top of the 1st inning,
Nico Hoerner wasted no time making an impact with a triple to center field.
Kyle Tucker then grounded out, allowing Hoerner to score the game's first run. The Cubs drew first blood, leading the Yankees 1-0. Our boys kept the Yankees lineup quiet in the bottom of the 1st, with three quick outs from
Paul Goldschmidt,
Cody Bellinger, and
Aaron Judge.
Dominant Third Inning
Momentum truly swung in the Cubs’ favor during the top of the 3rd inning.
Kyle Tucker and
Seiya Suzuki set the stage with a single and a double, respectively.
Carson Kelly's single brought Tucker home, and with help from a Yankees' error, both
Dansby Swanson and Kelly scored, pushing the Cubs ahead 3-0. Thanks to a solid hit from
Ian Happ, Swanson scored again, and the Cubs secured a commanding 4-0 lead. Our defense shone through, maintaining the shutout as the Yankees struggled against our pitching.
Late Game Excitement
Carson Kelly gave us even more reason to celebrate in the top of the 8th with a solo home run that soared 379 feet, increasing our advantage to 5-0. As the game progressed to the bottom of the 9th, tension filled the air. With the Yankees eager to put points on the board,
Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer, but our bullpen stayed resilient.
Javier Assad Palencia closed the game, recording a crucial strikeout and ensuring the Cubs took the victory with a final score of 5-2.

Overall, a commendable performance by the Cubs against a formidable Yankees team. Here's to more wins and unforgettable moments for us Cubs fans!
