Tough Day for the Cubbies in Philly

Another day, another rollercoaster of emotions for us devoted Cubs fans 😅. Facing the Phillies at their home turf was always going to be a challenge, but our Cubs were surely aiming to make some noise in this matchup!

First Inning Struggles

The game started with Ian Happ and Kyle Tucker both striking out, while Seiya Suzuki managed to reach first base with a cheeky infield single. However, Dansby Swanson couldn't keep the momentum going and fouled out. It seemed like the innings were destined to be a challenge as the Phillies jumped ahead with three runs, including a crucial single from Trea Turner and a double from Max Kepler which got their momentum rolling. Ugh! 😣

Hope Glimmers

In the fourth inning, our Cubs caught a break when Carson Kelly doubled to center and later scored off a clutch double by Nico Hoerner. Cubs on the board! 🎉 However, the Phillies had their own comeback during the bottom half, extending their lead to 6-1 courtesy of a key single from Alec Bohm. Hang in there, Cubbies!

Late Push Falls Short

In the final innings, we saw some more action from Ian Happ who doubled in the 8th and later managed to reach third on a fielding error. He then scored after Kyle Tucker grounded out, adding a second tally to our side off a "small ball" play – gotta love those! Nonetheless, the Phillies' bats proved too powerful today, with a solo homer from Alec Bohm in the bottom of the 7th sealing our fate. Final score: 7-2.

Cubs fans, don't hang your heads. In baseball, every day is a new opportunity! Let's keep the Wrigley spirit alive and take the fight back into the next game! 💪⚾ Go Cubs Go!
