A Rollercoaster of Emotions: Cubs vs. Phillies

This was one nerve-racking game, Cubs fans! Coming into the game against the Phillies, our boys gave us quite the rollercoaster ride. Even though we headed home with a loss, there were plenty of moments to cheer for!

A Powerful Start

💥 Right off the bat, in the top of the 1st inning, Kyle Tucker gave us an electric start by sending a monster homer 387 feet into right field, putting us ahead at 1-0. Unfortunately, the rest of the lineup couldn't follow his lead as Ian Happ, Seiya Suzuki, and Pete Crow-Armstrong all struck out. Nevertheless, that early lead felt promising!

Back-and-Forth Battle

The game seemed to be a tug-of-war with the Phillies. J.T. Realmuto tied it up in the 4th inning with a fielder's choice allowing Kyle Schwarber to score. In the 5th, a pitcher error let Otto Kemp score and give the Phillies the lead 2-1. Ian Happ answered back in the top of the 8th inning with an absolute bomb over left field, a 424-footer, tying things again at 2 - 2. Another highlight for the Cubs came when Pete Crow-Armstrong doubled in the 11th, scoring Kyle Tucker to give us a slim 3-2 lead.

Heartbreaking End

Despite our valiant efforts, the Phillies mounted a comeback. In their half of the 11th inning, J.T. Realmuto and Marsh delivered crucial hits that scored the tying and walk-off runs. As much as it hurts to see the final score tick at Phillies 4, Cubs 3, I can't help but be proud of the fight our boys put up. Let's look on to the future with optimism. Keep your heads up, Cubs fans! Until next time! 💙⚾
