Another Tough Loss for the Buccos
Oh man, fellow Pirates fans, it wasn't the best outing for us last night as we took on the Chicago Cubs. We showed some spark early on, with Spencer Horwitz getting on base and then being driven home by a majestic triple from Oneil Cruz, but ultimately we couldn't maintain the momentum. That first homer by Michael Busch set the tone and the Cubs didn't look back.
Solid Pitching from the Dugout
Despite the score, there were some solid pitching performances to note. When Skenes needed a lift, Sisk came through in the fourth to secure some outs and keep things from getting too out of hand. Lawrence and Mlodzinski also joined the rotation to get us through the middle innings, trying to give our bats a chance to get going.
No Late-Inning Magic
Even with some great appearances at bat by Henry Davis and Alexander Canario, we couldn't quite catch up to the Cubs. Their pitchers kept our lineup guessing, and unfortunately, our late-inning magic was nowhere to be found. Reynolds had a chance in the 9th, but ultimately, it wasn't our night. Let’s keep our heads up, and look forward to the next one!
Until next time, Let's go Bucs!
