A Tough Loss in the Bay Area
Well, fellow Cubs fans, it was a rough outing today as we faced off against the San Francisco Giants. The Giants edged us out with a 5-2 victory, delivering a frustrating evening for the North Siders. Let's break down the game.A Strong Start But Missed Opportunities
We started off with some promising action when Seiya Suzuki singled in the first inning, followed by a single from Pete Crow-Armstrong that got him to third. Pete even stole second, showing his speed on the bases. But, unfortunately, Carson Kelly couldn’t bring them home as he struck out looking. In the third inning, Kyle Tucker and Suzuki threatened again with a single and a walk, respectively, but Crow-Armstrong struck out swinging, leaving runners stranded.Taking the Lead
Our moment came in the 4th and 5th innings when Ian Happ doubled and eventually crossed the plate thanks to a clutch single by Matt Shaw, tying the game. Then, Kelly came through with a single to drive in Crow-Armstrong, giving us a 2-1 lead in the 5th. At this point, the Cubs were on top of the world—or at least on top of the scoreboard! The Giants’ Response and Our Struggle to Reclaim
The Giants weren't finished, though. In the bottom of the 6th, Matt Chapman hit a pivotal two-run homer, swinging the momentum back to the Giants. From there, our bats fell silent. Despite a few scattered hits from Dansby Swanson and Crow-Armstrong, we couldn’t put anything substantial together against the Giants' pitching bullpen. Here's hoping the Cubbies regroup and come back stronger in the next game! Let's keep rooting for our guys. Go Cubs Go!
