A Thrilling Victory at Busch Stadium!

Last night's game against the Cubs was a rollercoaster of emotions that had us all on the edge of our seats until the very last out. In a classic rivalry match-up that did not disappoint, our St. Louis Cardinals pulled off a nail-biting 7-6 win over the Chicago Cubs. 🙌🎉

Early Inning Struggles and Triumphs

The game started off with both teams showing strong defense, keeping the score tied at 0 through the first 2 innings. The Cardinals were able to break through in the bottom of the 3rd thanks to Paul Goldschmidt's RBI groundout, bringing in Brendan Donovan, and an RBI single by Nolan Arenado that brought Lars Nootbaar home. This early lead, however, was quickly countered by the Cubs in the 4th when they scored three runs, nudging ahead 3-2.

The Tug of War Continues

Despite the Cubs taking the lead, the Cardinals didn't let up. The battle continued through the middle innings, with both teams demonstrating why this rivalry is one of the best in baseball. Our Birds managed to tie it up at 3-3 in the 6th inning thanks to a double by Masyn Winn. Yet, just when you thought the momentum had shifted, the Cubs responded in the top of the 7th to take a 4-3 lead.

An Explosive 8th Inning

The real drama unfolded in the bottom of the 8th inning, in what could only be described as an offensive explosion by the Cardinals. Down by one, the team showed incredible resilience and heart. Matt Carpenter, our beloved pinch hitter, delivered when it mattered most, driving in the tying run. Then, Donovan and Nootbaar decided they hadn't had enough, driving in three more runs between them, catapulting the Cardinals to a 7-4 lead. 😍

Holding On for the Win

Entering the 9th with a three-run cushion felt good, but the Cubs weren't going down without a fight. They managed to claw back two runs, making it a one-run game. The tension was palpable, but Ryan Helsley was up to the task, sealing the deal for the Cards with the final out. The Cardinals emerged victorious with a final score of 7-6 in a game that showcased the grit and determination of this team.

Moment to Shine

This game was a testament to the team's depth, with contributions from everyone. Special shoutouts to Donovan, Nootbaar, and of course, Winn for their crucial RBIs. But let's not forget the solid start by our pitching staff and the clutch performances from the bullpen.

Wrapping Up

What a game! As Cardinals fans, we live for these moments. The dramatic win against the Cubs just adds another thrilling chapter to this storied rivalry. Let's carry this momentum forward! Go Cardinals! ❤️⚾
