Game Chicago Cubs @ Toronto Blue Jays (August 12th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

A Tough Day at the Plate for the Cubs

Well, Cubs fans, it was a tough one to watch today as our beloved team fell to the Toronto Blue Jays with a final score of 1-5. 😢 From the start, it was clear that the Blue Jays came prepared, but despite the efforts, our Cubs couldn't quite match up in this game.

A Scoring Struggle

We kicked off the game with hopes high, yet it quickly became apparent that scoring opportunities were hard to come by. In the top of the first inning, Michael Busch, Seiya Suzuki, and Kyle Tucker were all unable to get on base, and the first inning quickly ended with no runs on the board for us. The Blue Jays, however, put up a run in the bottom of the first inning courtesy of a single by Alejandro Kirk, bringing home Bo Bichette. By the end of the 4th inning, the Blue Jays increased their lead to 4-0, highlighted by a three-run homer from Ernie Clement.

Cubs' Lone Run and Blue Jays' Victory

In the top of the 7th inning, we finally saw a glimpse of life from the Cubs lineup as Dansby Swanson walked, and Willi Castro came through with a single, moving Swanson to third. Michael Busch then drove Swanson home with a single to center, getting us on the board. 🎉 However, that lone run wasn’t enough as we couldn't get anyone else across home plate. Another homer by Daulton Varsho in the 8th put the Blue Jays further out of reach, sealing the 5-1 victory for them.

Looking Ahead

We know it wasn’t the outcome we hoped for, but let's keep believing in our team. There were certainly some bright spots today, especially with that single from Busch, and strong defensive plays throughout. Let’s shake this one off and come back strong in our next game. Remember, every game is a new opportunity to turn this around. Go Cubs! ⚾🧢
