Tough Loss Against the Cubs
Man, oh man, what a roller coaster of a game for our Washington Nationals against the Chicago Cubs. We fell just short, with a final score of 7-6
.Hot Start for the Nats
We had an electric start in the bottom of the 1st inning. James Wood singled, and Andres Chaparro walked, setting the stage for Jose Tena to double to center field and bring in two runs! We were up 2-0 right out of the gate.
A Rough 2nd Inning
Unfortunately, the top of the 2nd was brutal for us. The Cubs came alive, scoring five runs on a series of solid hits and a wild pitch. And just when we thought it couldn't get worse, Cody Bellinger smacked a homer, adding two more runs. By the end of the inning, the Cubs were leading 7-2.
Crews Comes Through
In the bottom of the 3rd, our rookie sensation Dylan Crews hit a beautiful solo homer to left center, cutting the Cubs lead to 7-3. This kid is going to be something special
.Middle Innings Struggles
The middle innings were tough for our boys. We couldn’t get much going against the Cubs’ pitching. The Cubs couldn't score either, thanks to some solid relief pitching from R. Garcia, La Sorsa, Rainey, and Salazar.Nail-Biting 9th Inning
The bottom of the 9th was a real nail-biter. Luis Garcia Jr. came off the bench with a double, and Joey Gallo walked. Then Ildemaro Vargas singled to right, scoring Garcia and moving Gallo to third. CJ Abrams walked, loading the bases. Jacob Young then singled, bringing in two more runs, making it 7-6.But, with the game on the line, Dylan Crews struck out swinging, ending our comeback attempt.
Final Thoughts
This one stings, but let's not get too down. We showed heart and grit, battling back till the very end. We're building something special with these young talents. Let's take the positives and look forward to the next game! Go Nats!
