Tough Outing for the Nationals

Fellow Nats fans, it's a bit of a tough pill to swallow as we recap the game against the Chicago Cubs. 😞 The Cubs tagged us with a 7-1 loss, and it was a night where they had the upper hand from the start. Right from the top of the first inning, the Cubs were at it, with Pete Crow-Armstrong hammering a two-run homer. CJ Abrams offered us hope with a single to kick off our efforts, but unfortunately got out while trying to stretch it to second base.

Pitching Woes and Defensive Struggles

The pitching staff had their hands full tonight. Rutledge tried to keep the Cubs in check when he relieved Irvin, but alas, Ian Happ smashed a two-run homer in the sixth inning to further extend their lead. Defensive errors, including one by Amed Rosario at third base, didn’t help our cause. Even when we allowed the Cubs minimal outs, they took full advantage of the opportunities.

A Late, Lone Run

In the ninth inning, just as the Cubs thought they had a shutout wrapped up, Luis García Jr. stepped up to knock in Daylen Lile after he reached base on catcher's interference. While it was a consolation run, it was important to avoid the goose egg on the scoreboard. Here's hoping the Nationals regroup and bounce back stronger after this tough game. We've seen our team weather storms before, Nats fans. 🌟 Let's keep our heads up! 🙌
