Cubs Get the Offense Rolling Early
What a fantastic night for our fabulous Cubbies! Right off the bat, in the top of the first inning, Kyle Tucker set the pace with a double to center. Then, Pete Crow-Armstrong delivered a massive 412-foot homer to center, bringing Tucker home. This electrifying start put us up 2-0. The Nationals tried to catch up, but thanks to their fielding error, we kept the momentum. Major cheers for Dansby Swanson and Michael Busch for further advancing the play in this exciting inning!

Steady Pitching and Adding Runs
Our pitching staff truly held it down. Top of the second, Ian Happ couldn't stay out of the spotlight, doubling to bring Matt Shaw home, putting us up 3-0. In the bottom of the second, Rea came in strong after Pomeranz, shutting the Nationals down inning after inning. A huge shoutout to our pitchers for keeping the Washington bats quiet for most of the game. We kept piling on runs in the 6th inning thanks to another towering home run from Happ!
Sealing the Victory in the 9th
We weren't done yet! In the 9th, Reese McGuire and Happ solidified the victory by bringing in more runs. By the end, our Cubbies were ahead 7-0. Happ was unstoppable, showing everyone why he's the MVP of the game! The Nationals managed to scrape in a run, but too little, too late. What an amazing display of talent and teamwork from our Chicago Cubs tonight. We took this one home 7-1!
