Tough Loss for the White Sox Against Tigers
Fellow White Sox fans, it was a rough outing for our boys today against the Detroit Tigers. The game ended with a lopsided score of 2-11, favoring Detroit.First Inning Woes
We quickly fell behind in the first inning. After Tommy Pham, Andrew Benintendi, and Eloy Jiménez all failed to get on base, the Tigers came out swinging. Matt Vierling started with a triple, and Colt Keith followed with a homer to bring in two runs. An error by our shortstop Paul DeJong didn't help our cause, and before we knew it, Akil Baddoo hit a two-run homer, and the Tigers were up 5-0.Another Big Inning for the Tigers in the 2nd
The Tigers didn't let up in the second inning. After Jake Rogers and Matt Vierling both got on, Colt Keith singled to bring another run in. We hoped for some relief with Shuster coming in, but Riley Greene hit a three-run homer, putting them up 9-0.Missed Opportunities
Our offense struggled to get anything going for most of the game. Gavin Sheets singled in the second, but we couldn't capitalize. In the 7th inning, we finally managed to get on the scoreboard when Eloy Jiménez singled, and Gavin Sheets doubled. Nicky Lopez then singled, bringing in two runs to make it 9-2.Tigers Add More Insurance Runs
Unfortunately, the Tigers continued to pounce. Zach McKinstry homered in the 7th, and they added another run in the 8th to make it 11-2.Closing Out the Game
We couldn't muster up any more offense in the 9th inning as Eloy Jiménez, Gavin Sheets, and Andrew Vaughn were all retired in order.Final Thoughts
Our pitching struggled, and the offense couldn't break through. It's a tough one to swallow, but let's keep our heads up and look forward to the next game. Let's go White Sox!Scoreboard for White Sox @ Tigers (June 23rd, 2024)
