Yesterday was an absolute treat for us White Sox fans as our team battled fiercely and came out victorious against the Detroit Tigers with a final score of 9-5! What a sensational game!Opening Innings: Setting the Stage
The game began slow, with both teams holding each other scoreless in the 1st inning. Miguel Vargas, Luis Robert Jr., and Zach DeLoach were all unable to get things rolling against the Tigers’ pitcher.Sosa Shines
The 2nd inning is where it all started to turn in our favor. Lenyn Sosa got us on the board first, scoring after a single via Bryan Ramos and another by Korey Lee. Dominic Fletcher joined the party and hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Ramos. By the end of the 2nd, we were up 2-0.Come the 3rd inning, Lenyn Sosa struck gold again, this time hitting a massive homerun to left center, driving in two more runs. Our lead extended to 5-0 and we were solidly in control.
Mid-Game Tension
It wasn’t all smooth sailing though. The Tigers put up a fight in the 5th inning. After loading the bases, Kerry Carpenter smashed a homerun that brought in three runs, cutting our lead to just one (5-4). Things got a bit tense there, but our team held its ground.Sealing the Deal
We responded in perfect fashion in the 7th inning. Luis Robert Jr. and Zach DeLoach set up the stage with clutch hits. Sosa walked to load the bases, and Ramos answered with a key single to bring in two more runs. Errors by the Tigers also helped, allowing us to stretch our lead further. A critical single by Jacob Amaya made it 9-4.Closing the Game
For our pitchers, it was a team effort to maintain the lead. Even though the Tigers scored one more run in the 8th inning, our defense and bullpen shut them down efficiently. Shoutout to De Los Santos for coming in and closing it out. The 9th inning saw a sharp double play that sealed our victory. A big roar for our defense!Final Thoughts
Overall, it was a powerful performance by our White Sox team. Lenyn Sosa was exceptional at the plate, and our guys showed resilience when it was needed most. A well-deserved win and a great day to be a White Sox fan! On to the next one!Scoreboard for White Sox @ Tigers (September 29th, 2024)
