The game didn't start well for us. Jose Altuve flied out, followed by Yordan Alvarez and Yainer Diaz both making quick outs. The White Sox got on the board first in the top of the 2nd inning when Andrew Vaughn singled, Korey Lee doubled, and Dominic Fletcher grounded out to bring Vaughn home.Catching Up
In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Altuve hit a ground rule double and was driven in by Alvarez, narrowing the gap to 3-1. However, in the 5th inning, Luis Robert Jr. extended the Sox lead with a solo home run.Fighting Back
Just when it seemed like the White Sox were pulling away, Jake Meyers smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the 6th, bringing the score to 4-3. Mauricio Dubon also doubled but we couldn't capitalize further.Late Drama
In the top of the 8th inning, Robert Jr. once again hurt us with an RBI single that brought the score to 5-3. In the bottom of the 9th, Jon Singleton came in to pinch-hit for McCormick and delivered with a solo home run, pulling us within one run. Unfortunately, Altuve struck out swinging to end the game.Final Thoughts
Despite the loss, it was great to see the fight our boys put up. Shoutout to Altuve, Alvarez, Meyers, and Singleton for their key plays. We'll get them next time, Astros fans!Scoreboard for White Sox @ Astros (August 17th, 2024)
