Diamondbacks Start Strong
Fellow Diamondbacks fans, last night's game against the Reds began on a high note with Geraldo Perdomo leading off with an electric triple to right field! He set the tone for what we all hoped would be a victorious evening. Ketel Marte gave it his all, but unfortunately struck out swinging. Then, Corbin Carroll demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing a walk. Our man, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., did his duty by hitting a sacrifice fly to center, allowing Perdomo to score and giving us the early lead, 1-0! Carroll continued to thrill us by stealing second, adding some excitement, but we couldn't capitalize further as Pavin Smith struck out to end the inning.Reds Rally in Later Innings
While the early innings showcased solid defensive plays and an impressive effort from our ace Zac Gallen, trouble arose in the 6th inning when the Reds tied it up. Despite a strong fight, Elly De La Cruz managed to put some pressure on us with some clever baserunning, and an unfortunate throwing error by Perdomo allowed the Reds to even the score at 1-1.The game took a dramatic turn in the 8th inning, when the Reds rallied to break the tie. Steer took advantage of our bullpen, delivering a heart-wrenching three-run homer to put the Reds up 5-1, leaving us to lament what could have been. Following that, Friedl added another RBI, stretching the Reds' lead to 6-1.
Fighting Until the End
Despite our boys’ best efforts, the bottom of the innings saw us unable to regain our footing. Even though Carroll hustled through with a single in the 8th inning and advanced on a wild pitch, Gurriel Jr. couldn't find the magic moment this time. The final inning saw Smith, McCarthy, and Alexander attempting to spark a comeback, but the Reds’ defense held firm. While the outcome—6-1 in favor of the Reds—wasn't what we'd hoped for, we have plenty to take away and improve upon. Onward and upward, Diamondbacks!
