Reds Take Early Lead

Tough day for us Braves fans as the Atlanta Braves fell to the Cincinnati Reds in a close 4-3 contest. The game started with the Reds pouncing early in the first inning. With a homer to right center by TJ Friedl, the Reds quickly took a 1-0 lead. After a single by Matt McLain, Elly De La Cruz made it to first, sending McLain to third. Gavin Lux then grounded into a double play, allowing McLain to score, bringing the Reds' lead to 2-0. A frustrating start to the game for the Braves as Alex Verdugo, Austin Riley, and Marcell Ozuna each quickly retired in succession in the bottom half.

Braves Miss Early Opportunities

The next few innings saw the Braves lineup struggling to get anything going. The top of the third inning saw another long ball from TJ Friedl that further extended the Reds’ lead to 3-0. Though we managed to get Eli White and Drake Baldwin on base in the third, we couldn't capitalize as Alex Verdugo struck out swinging, and Austin Riley was lined out. Our offense mirrored the fourth inning struggles, with the Reds taking a sturdy 4-0 lead after Tyler Stephenson singled in Gavin Lux.

A Late Braves Surge

The mood shifted in the fifth when the Braves began showing some fight! Drake Baldwin got us on the board with a solid homer to right center field, giving Braves country some much-needed energy! In the bottom of the sixth inning, Austin Riley scored thanks to a Matt Olson single, which was followed by a sacrifice fly from Ozzie Albies that brought Marcell Ozuna home, closing in on the Reds with a score of 4-3. However, despite our determination, the Braves couldn't push across the tying run in the final innings. Michael Harris II singled in the ninth, but Eddie Rosario, pinch-hitting for Eli White, struck out to end the game.

Tough Luck

While we didn’t take the win this time around, the Braves showed grit and determination trying to catch up to the Reds. We can hold our heads high and look forward to the next game. Keep the faith, Braves fans! We'll be back stronger! 💪🔵⚪🔴
