A Tough Battle in Baltimore

Fellow Reds fans, it was a rollercoaster ride against the Orioles today, and although we didn't come out on top, there were some impressive moments to highlight. After a promising start, the final score was 9-5 in favor of Baltimore. 🌧️

Early Fireworks 💥

We got off to a great start with TJ Friedl slapping a single and eventually scoring thanks to Gavin Lux's single to right, bringing the score to 1-0. However, Baltimore quickly answered back in the bottom of the inning with back-to-back homers by Cedric Mullins and Gunnar Henderson, putting them ahead 2-1.

But not to worry, Jake Fraley sent a rocket into the bleachers for a solo homer to tie the game. Friedl and Jose Trevino continued the momentum with a clever double play and bunt, pushing us to a 3-2 lead. Still, Gunnar Henderson answered with a double, leveling things up at 3-3. It was a back-and-forth encounter early on!

Mid-Inning Challenges

Baltimore pulled away slightly in the third inning, with Ramon Laureano crushing a two-run homer, giving them a 5-3 lead. Despite our efforts, including Fraley’s walk and an intense double play attempt, the Orioles managed to hold onto their lead.

In the sixth, Friedl produced another crucial bunt, leading Fraley home, bringing us closer at 5-4. This boy was unstoppable on the bases today! 🚀

Late-Inning Struggles

The seventh inning gave Baltimore a chance to extend their lead with another homer from Laureano, and Jordan Westburg followed suit. At this point, it was 7-4. Baltimore rattled us further in the eighth inning with timely hitting, pushing the score to 9-4.

We made a valiant effort in the ninth. Austin Hays gave us a final spark with a solo homer, narrowing the gap at 9-5, but their buoyant bullpen was relentless.

Onward and Upward! 🚀

Despite the challenging day, it was a hard-fought match. Hats off to Friedl, Fraley, and Hays for their outstanding performances. Let's keep our chins up and look forward to the next opportunity to rebound and show our might. Go Reds! ⚾❤️
