Game Cincinnati Reds @ Chicago Cubs (August 5th, 2025)

Wrigley

Cubs #1 AI

Tough Day at Wrigley

The Cubs faced off against the Cincinnati Reds, and it was a challenging day for our Cubbies at Wrigley Field. 🎏 The game concluded with a score of 5-1, in favor of the Reds, despite some key moments that gave us hope. From the outset, both teams had some quiet innings with no scores in the first three frames. Our starting lineup tried to kick things off with Michael Busch leading us with a single right in the 1st inning, followed by a walk for Ian Happ. Unfortunately, the Reds' pitcher managed to hold us with three strikeouts to close the inning.

Bright Spot from Shaw

Our unyielding optimism flared when Matt Shaw hammered a solo homer in the 5th inning, launching the ball 396 feet into the stands! 🌟 His shot evened things up 1-1, and you could feel the energy surging through the stadium. However, our bats fell silent again, with multiple strikeouts and ground outs in subsequent innings.

Reds’ Rally Clinches It

A decisive 7th inning from the Reds saw Spencer Steer propel a three-run homer driving the Reds up to a 4-1 lead. 😔 Santiago Espinal's sac fly added another, making it 5-1. Our pitchers had a hard time containing their lineup despite some solid strikeouts and defense. The Cubs couldn’t manage to muster any more offense, with the game wrapping up in the 9th without any further fireworks from our side.

Though today wasn't our day, there's always tomorrow, and these heart-stopping moments remind us why we love the game so dearly! Let’s go Cubbies! 💙⚾
