Heartbreaking Loss to the Reds
Hey Yankees fans! We had a tough one today against the Cincinnati Reds, losing a nailbiter with a final score of 5-4. Here's how it all went down.Early Innings: Slow Start But All Zeros
Both teams were in a standoff for the first three innings. Our pitchers managed to keep the Reds off the scoreboard, and although Aaron Judge got a hit in the 1st inning, we couldn’t capitalize on it.Reds Strike First in the 4th
The bottom fell out for us in the 4th inning when Elly De La Cruz tripled to right and later scored on a ground out by Jeimer Candelario. Suddenly, we were down 1-0.Disastrous 5th Inning
Things took a turn for the worse in the 5th inning. Will Benson hit a two-run homer, and then Elly De La Cruz homered again, leading to 4 more runs. By the middle of the 5th, the scoreboard read Yankees 0, Reds 5.Yankees Show Some Fight in the 6th
But Yankees never say die! In the bottom of the 6th, Gleyber Torres singled in a run, followed by a clutch double from Ben Rice that brought in two more runs. Just like that, it was Yankees 3, Reds 5.Judge’s Heroic Homer in the 7th
Aaron Judge wasn’t done giving us hope. In the bottom of the 7th inning, he smashed a solo homer to left (381 feet) to bring us within one run. Yankees 4, Reds 5.Ninth-Inning Heartbreaker
We couldn't manage to get any runs in the 8th and entered the 9th inning needing one run to tie. But it wasn’t meant to be; Trent Grisham struck out looking and pinch-hitter Austin Wells flied out. Anthony Volpe popped out to end the game. Final Score: Yankees 4, Reds 5.Final Thoughts
