A Strong Start
It's disappointing to see our boys fall short today against the Athletics, despite a fiery start. Noelvi Marte got us going with a solo homer in the first inning, sending one deep into left field and giving us an early lead.
Benson Shines Bright
In the top of the 2nd, Will Benson took it upon himself to extend our lead with a beautiful two-run homer! It's always great to see him step up and deliver like that, bringing home Gavin Lux after his walk. We rounded off the inning ahead 3-0.
Athletics' Comeback
Unfortunately, the Athletics started to chip away at our lead. In the fourth, Jacob Wilson and Colby Thomas went yard, cutting our lead to a single run.
Struggles and Missed Opportunities
We had a few chances to claw our way back. In the sixth, Austin Hays reached base on a walk, and Jose Trevino rapped a single, but we couldn't capitalize. The Athletics showed their resilience, with Brent Rooker hitting a big two-run homer in the seventh.Final Push Falls Short
Though Sal Stewart blasted a solo homer in the eighth to give us a glimmer of hope, the Athletics' defense stood firm, and we couldn't mount a comeback in the ninth. The game wrapped up with a 7-4 loss.Despite the loss, there were flashes of brilliance from our lineup that we can build on in upcoming games. Until next time, Reds fans—let's keep supporting the team through thick and thin!
