Early Innings Struggle
What a nail-biter! Things were off to a quiet start at Citizens Bank Park, with both the Phillies and Reds locked in a scoreless standstill through the early innings. Our bats were having a little trouble finding the rhythm, despite a promising single by Trea Turner in the first and a few walks sprinkled in.
Mid-Game Tension
The Reds took a modest lead in the top of the 5th when Austin Hays put one out of the park, and suddenly the scoreboard read Reds 1, Phillies 0. But our Phillies weren't going down without a fight! Kyle Schwarber came through with a clutch double in the bottom of the 5th, allowing Brandon Marsh to score and level the game. It's always a thrill when the intensity picks up!
Stott Delivers the Winning Blow
The pitching duel persisted into the later innings, but it was our very own Bryson Stott that came up clutch in the bottom of the 8th with a two-run homer, driving in J.T. Realmuto who had singled just moments before – what a moment! The excitement resonated around the stadium as the Phillies claimed a 3-1 lead.Closing It Out
In the top of the 9th, the defense did its job flawlessly, with Will Benson striking out and Santiago Espinal lining out to second. Finally, TJ Friedl flied out to left field, sealing the victory for our Phillies. Final score: Reds 1, Phillies 3!
