Reds Out in a Heartbreaker to Padres in Extra Innings

Hey Reds fans, what a rollercoaster of a game we had against the Padres! Even though we came out on the losing side with a 3-4 loss in extra innings, our boys put up a valiant fight on the diamond. ⚾

Strong Start by Friedl and De La Cruz

Our own TJ Friedl got us off to a fantastic start, launching a homer over right field in the first inning, giving us the early lead! Friedl was electric, showing his speed by swiping second base in the 3rd inning and later scoring on a single by Elly De La Cruz. Speaking of De La Cruz, his key single extended our lead 2-0. Austin Hays kept the pressure on with a solo homer in the 6th, stretching the lead to 3-0 at that point. Let's not forget the gritty performance by our pitchers, who held the Padres scoreless for five innings. 🙌

Padres' Comeback and Tense Extra Innings

The turning point arrived in the bottom of the 6th. Gavin Sheets doubled home a run, followed by Jackson Merrill's clutch triple that brought in two more, leveling the score at 3-3. The game remained deadlocked thanks to our bullpen's great effort, featured by Phillips striking out Cronenworth and Tatis Jr. in the 7th inning. However, in the fateful 10th inning, a sacrifice fly from Fernando Tatis Jr. brought home Cronenworth and sealed the game. 😞

Props to Our Reds!

While the final result was not what we hoped for, major props to Friedl and Hays for their home runs, and the team's overall fight. We'll definitely take this spirit into the next match. Keep your heads high, Reds fans, because tomorrow is another opportunity to show what we're made of! Go Reds! 🔴🔔
