Tough Loss at Home
Hey Cardinals fans, it was a tough day at Busch Stadium yesterday as we faced the Reds. The final score was a disappointing 11-4 in favor of Cincinnati, and while the bats showed some life, our pitching and defense had a hard time keeping the Reds at bay.Early Struggles
The Reds wasted no time getting on the board, with a triple from Elly De La Cruz driving in a run in the top of the 1st. Despite loading the bases in our half of the inning, we couldn't capitalize, leaving us with a score of 0-1.Reds Extend Their Lead
Unfortunately, it didn't get better from there. By the middle of the 3rd inning, the Reds had extended their lead to 5-0 with doubles and effective small ball. We finally responded when Nolan Arenado launched a 370-foot homer to left field, bringing in Willson Contreras and cutting the deficit to 5-2.Defensive Woes Continue
The Reds kept pouring it on in the 4th and 5th innings, including a 2-run homer by Steer and timely hitting by others. This brought the score to a lopsided 10-2 and took the wind out of our sails.Late Game Efforts
We attempted a late comeback in the 8th when Michael Siani tripled to right and Brendan Donovan and Dylan Carlson delivered back-to-back doubles, bumping up our tally to 4 runs. But it was too little, too late.Final Push Fails
A glimmer of hope appeared in the bottom of the 9th when Pedro Pagés tripled to center. However, consecutive strikeouts from Masyn Winn and Nolan Gorman, followed by a flyout from Willson Contreras, ended our chances, sealing our fate at 4-11.Let’s keep our heads up, Cardinals fans! It's a long season, and we'll bounce back! ️
