A Solid Victory for the Reds in St. Louis!
What a game, folks! The Cincinnati Reds took on the St. Louis Cardinals and came out on top with a convincing 6-2 victory!
Turning the Tide in the 4th Inning
The turning point came in the top of the 4th. After Sal Stewart walked and Elly De La Cruz followed suit, it was Spencer Steer who stepped up to the plate and slammed a three-run homer to center field. What a moment! The Reds took the lead 3-1 and didn't look back.
Building the Lead
The momentum continued into the 5th inning as Gavin Lux scored on a wild pitch to inch the score to 4-1. The top of the 7th was another highlight, with Steer again playing hero by driving in two more runs. This pushed our lead to 6-2 after Austin Hays and pinch-runner Santiago Espinal crossed home plate. Our pitchers held strong after that, with Burns and Pagán shutting down the Cardinals' attempts to rally.
Closing it Out
Cardinal hitters couldn't catch a break in the late innings as our bullpen was simply lights out. Graham Ashcraft, Burns, and Pagán combined to hold the Cardinals scoreless in the latter half of the game. It was absolute filth on the mound today. We even saw some beautiful defensive plays like turning a double play to erase a late-inning threat.
Onto the Next One!
A big shoutout to Spencer Steer for his clutch performance and Gavin Lux for setting the pace with three hits. This win puts us in great spirits as we look forward to our next matchup. Let's keep this momentum going, Reds fans! With performances like these, there's much to be hopeful about. Let's go Reds!
