A Tough Day at Fenway
Well, Red Sox Nation, it wasn't our day. We faced off against the Cleveland Guardians, and unfortunately, they came out on top with an 8-1 victory.
Early Trouble
The first inning started off with a bit of hope but quickly turned south. Steven Kwan doubled, and Jose Ramirez knocked him in with a ground out, putting the Guardians on the board. Our guy Trevor Story struck out looking to end our half of the inning, keeping the score at 0-1.The second inning was rough. Gabriel Arias hit a two-run homer, and a couple of critical errors led to more runs crossing the plate. By the end of the inning, the Guardians had a commanding 7-0 lead, leaving us in quite a bind.

Finding a Spark
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Romy Gonzalez showed some fight, singling to left. Rob Refsnyder, Jarren Duran, and Nick Sogard pieced together some moments, allowing us to put a run on the board and briefly lift our spirits with the score at 1-7.
Holding the Line
Our pitching staff, which saw appearances from Bernardino, Hicks, Matz, and others, managed to contain the damage as the game wore on. They limited the Guardians to just one more run, but unfortunately, our bats couldn't muster a comeback.Final Push Comes Up Short
We couldn't get anything going late in the game. David Hamilton came in as a pinch-hitter but flied out. Connor Wong and Ali Sanchez had their moments but ultimately struck out swinging. Even our trusty Alex Bregman and Nate Eaton couldn't crack the Guardians' defense.Let's shake this one off, Red Sox fans. The season is long, and there are many more games to win! We’ll be back stronger next game. Go Sox!
