Early Woes for the Astros
We've all witnessed games where things seem stacked against us, and tonight was one of them. It all started in the top of the first inning when Angel Martinez and Jose Ramirez both homered to put the Cleveland Guardians up 2-0 early. Our defense, despite being solid with Zack Short and Mauricio Dubon composing the midfield, was caught off guard by those hard hits. The Astros lineup couldn't respond in the bottom of the first, ending in a painful double play from Jose Altuve that left us scoreless.
Middle Innings Struggles
As fans, we hoped for a comeback as the game progressed. But, inning after inning, our rallies were thwarted. The Guardians extended their lead in the 7th inning, thanks to a couple of strategic plays and a clutch single by Johnathan Rodriguez that brought two more runs to the plate.
A Glimmer of Hope in the 8th
Finally, in the 8th inning, things started looking up for Houston. Taylor Trammell led off with a walk, and Mauricio Dubon followed with a powerful double to score him.
Completion at Minute Maid
In the 9th, the Guardians closed ranks, bringing in Paul Sewald to seal their victory. Though Cam Smith, Victor Caratini, and especially Cooper Hummel fought hard, our lineup fell short, ending the game 4-2 in favor of Cleveland. While it wasn't the home victory we hoped for, our boys fought valiantly, and as dedicated fans, we know there’s always another chance to shine!
