An Uneventful Start
Well, Royals fans, it was a tough outing for us as we hosted the Cleveland Guardians.
Guardians Surge Ahead
In the top of the 2nd inning, the Guardians started flexing some muscle. A sacrifice fly from Gabriel Arias allowed former Royal Carlos Santana to score, giving Cleveland an early lead. Our bats remained quiet through the 3rd and 4th innings while the Guardians extended their lead in the 5th when Kyle Manzardo crushed a two-run homer. They weren't done yet, either. Arias homered in the 6th, and an RBI from Steven Kwan increased their advantage to 5-0. A solo shot from Daniel Schneemann in the 8th made it 6-0. Yikes!
Late Royals Rally
Royals fans saw a glimmer of hope in the bottom of the 8th, as the Guardians' Arias committed a throwing error, and our pinch hitter Dairon Blanco reached first. Jonathan India followed with a single, and Bobby Witt Jr. brought Blanco home with a single of his own, finally putting us on the board! With the bases loaded after a Pasquantino walk, Hunter Renfroe's walk brought in another run. Alas, our rally was short-lived as we couldn't push more runs across and left it at 6-2.Wrapping It Up
A tough day at The K for the Royals, losing 6-2. Despite the setback, we saw flashes of brilliance from our stars like Pasquantino and a persistent drive even in the late innings. Here's to hoping for a comeback in the next game! Keep the faith, Royals fans! Let's turn it around!
