1st Inning Struggles
Not the best start for our Guardians as Steven Kwan, Will Brennan, and José Ramírez were all retired in quick fashion. The Brewers capitalized on a pickoff error by Bibee, allowing Brice Turang to advance and then score on a double from Gary Sánchez. Bit of a rough beginning with us trailing 0-1.4th Inning Action
Josh Naylor came through big with a solo homer to tie it up at 1-1! That got our spirits up, but the joy was short-lived as William Contreras answered with his own solo shot, putting the Brewers back ahead 2-1.6th Inning Close Call
After Ramírez drew a walk and stole both second and third (way to go, José! ), we had a golden opportunity to tie it up. However, Josh Naylor struck out looking. Frustrating, but we were still hopeful!Defensive Battles
Our pitchers settled in and did a solid job from the 5th inning onward. Sandlin, Smith, and Herrin kept their hitters in check. The score stayed at 2-1, giving us a fighting chance late in the game.Late Inning Hopes Dashed
We made some late substitutions to try and spark something, but the Brewers’ bullpen shut us down. Jhonkensy Noel and David Fry both struck out in the 8th. The 9th inning saw Williams retire our side in order—Brennan, Ramírez, and Josh Naylor—bringing the game to a close with a 2-1 Brewers win.Despite the loss, there were some positives to take away. Josh Naylor showed his power, and we had moments of strong pitching. On to the next one! Go Guardians!
