Guardians Fall Short Against the Twins
Tough night for our Cleveland Guardians as we faced the Minnesota Twins and unfortunately fell 2-4. The game started quietly for us in the top of the 1st inning with Steven Kwan flying out to center, followed by Daniel Schneemann with a walk, but it didn't lead to any scoring as Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor couldn’t get on base.
Early Lead for Twins
The Twins took an early lead in the bottom of the 1st. A double by Manuel Margot was followed by a groundout from Byron Buxton that moved Margot to third. A groundout by Royce Lewis allowed Margot to score, giving the Twins a 1-0 lead. Despite a single from Jose Miranda, they couldn’t add more as he got out trying to stretch it to second.Quiet Offense Continues for Guardians
Despite some singles and walks, our squad couldn’t capitalize in the early innings. Meanwhile, in the bottom of the 2nd, Carlos Santana hit a solo homer to left making it 2-0 for the Twins. In the 4th inning, Ryan Jeffers added another home run to extend their lead to 3-0. It was a tough break for our pitcher.
Guardians Show a Spark in the 7th
Finally, some offense! In the top of the 7th, Andres Gimenez singled to center and stole second. Rocchio then homered to right center, driving in two and bringing us closer at 3-2. The hope was alive once again!
Twins Extend Their Lead
However, it wasn’t long-lasting. In the bottom of the 7th, Max Kepler doubled and Willi Castro singled, putting runners at the corners. Kyle Farmer hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Kepler to score and making it 4-2. We just couldn’t keep them at bay.Final Push Comes Up Short
We tried to muster some momentum in the top of the 9th inning. Brennan hit a single to center and advanced to second on fielder's indifference, but Rocchio struck out swinging, ending our chances. It was a valiant effort, but the clock ran out on us.Final score: Twins 4, Guardians 2. Let’s hope for a better outcome in the next game. Go Guardians!
