Guardians Start Slow, Twins Take Early Lead
The Cleveland Guardians couldn't get things rolling in the first inning, despite a promising single from Jose Ramirez. Unfortunately, the offense couldn't capitalize, leaving us scoreless after Josh Naylor grounded out. On the defensive side, the Twins managed to steal home with Willi Castro, resulting in a 1-0 lead for Minnesota after the 1st inning.
Guardians Trail Early But Show Spirit
The second inning saw more struggles for the Guardians as we couldn't get anyone on base aside from David Fry who was hit by a pitch. Our troubles on the field continued as the Twins extended their lead to 2-0 due to a throwing error by Brayan Rocchio. It was a tough inning but we kept our spirits high!
Guardians Take the Lead in the 5th
In the 5th inning, things started to look brighter! Steven Kwan and Will Brennan got on base, and then Josh Naylor delivered a massive 376-foot homer to right field! This gave us a 3-2 lead, turning the tide of the game in our favor! It felt like we had the momentum, but the Twins quickly responded in the bottom of the 5th with their own 3-run homer, putting them ahead 5-3. Still, we were not giving up!
Pitching Changes and Defensive Plays
The 6th and 7th innings saw a series of pitching changes on both sides. Nick Sandlin, Elvis Peguero, and Sam Hentges took the mound for us, but the Twins managed to squeak in one more run with a balk in the 7th inning, increasing their lead to 6-3. Our defense did put in some double plays, but it wasn't enough to suppress the Twins' offense completely.
Guardians Unable to Mount a Comeback
In the 8th and 9th innings, we just couldn’t get our bats going. Jhonkensy Noel and pinch-hitter Bo Naylor both struck out, missing opportunities to turn the game around. Despite our efforts, the game ended with a 6-3 loss to the Twins. It was a tough game, but there's always the next one to look forward to!Final Score: Twins 6, Guardians 3
