Guardians Battle Hard but Fall Short in San Diego
As a proud Cleveland Guardians fan, last night's game against the San Diego Padres was a rollercoaster. Despite our boys' hard-fought effort, we ended up with a 2-5 defeat. Our starting lineup, featuring stars like Steven Kwan, Jose Ramirez, and Carlos Santana, tried their best against the Padres' powerhouse team.
The game started slowly for both teams, with no runs in the first two innings. Jose Ramirez got a single in the first, and Carlos Santana followed with another – a promising start that left us Guardians hopeful, but we couldn't capitalize. The Padres caught their stride in the 3rd inning, pulling ahead with an unexpected play by Fernando Tatis Jr., stealing home, and an error by Ramirez allowed two runs. Jackson Merrill's home run further pushed San Diego ahead, leaving us trailing 0-4.

Finding Opportunities
Despite being down, the spirit wasn't lost! In the 4th inning, Nolan Jones doubled, offering a glimpse of hope, even though our run didn’t come immediately. It wasn’t until the 7th inning that we saw Carlos Santana score, thanks to a groundout from Lane Thomas. By the 8th inning, Steven Kwan and Jose Ramirez kicked in with key hits – Kwan singled to left, followed by Ramirez's mighty double. Kyle Manzardo's sacrifice fly finally got us another run, raising our spirits!

Efforts to the End
Unfortunately, an impressive homer by Luis Arraez added to the Padres’ lead in the 7th, and we couldn't quite close the gap. Even with solid pitching changes and a valiant relief effort from Emmanuel Clase, San Diego’s defense held tight in the 9th. Lane Thomas, Brayan Rocchio, and Gabriel Arias tried to break through but couldn't score. We fought diligently, with Arias epitomizing our grit—shame it wasn’t our day. Still, tomorrow's another game for our Guardians, and we'll be cheering them on every step of the way!
