A Tough Day in Baltimore
Rockies fans, it's tough to admit, but today was not our day. We faced a formidable Baltimore team that showed us no mercy with an 18-0 defeat. This game started off slow with a scoreless top of the first for our side. Tyler Freeman flied out, Ezequiel Tovar struck out swinging, and Hunter Goodman also went down swinging. Already, we could sense that the Orioles weren't going to make this easy on us.
Defensive Struggles and Offensive Blunders
By the bottom of the second, Baltimore's bats came alive. Colton Cowser stole a base, and Tyler O'Neill hit a monstrous 417-foot homer that left us trailing 3-0. Their onslaught continued as Cedric Mullins hit a three-run homer in the fourth, pushing the score to 6-0. However, it was the Rockies' repeated errors and missed opportunities that made this game feel especially painful.Relief Pitching Woes
Unfortunately, the pitcher’s mound offered little respite. The relief change in the seventh was punctuated by the Orioles running rampant on us, piling on run after run. Despite our best efforts, players like Kyle Farmer and Nick Rolison couldn’t control Baltimore's lineup, and they extended their lead to an unbearable 18-0 in the eighth inning.Hope for Redemption
It's not easy to see such a lopsided scoreline, friends, but there's always a silver lining. This rough patch will make our eventual comeback even sweeter. Rockies nation, let's hold strong and hope for better days ahead. Here's to our players finding their stride. Go Rockies!
