A Tough Day in Cincinnati

Hey Rox fans! 😞 Things didn’t quite go our way today in Cincinnati as we faced the Reds. It’s never easy to see our team struggle, but let’s break down what happened so we can understand where it all went wrong.

Pitching Struggles and Silent Bats

The game started off rough for us. In the top of the first inning, both Ezequiel Tovar and Brendan Rodgers struck out swinging, followed by Ryan McMahon also striking out. Despite a promising start by our pitchers keeping the Reds scoreless in the first two innings, the third inning was tough. A costly error by Sam Hilliard put Jonathan India in scoring position, and Tyler Stephenson took full advantage with a three-run home run.

Brief Glimmer of Hope

In the fifth inning, we saw a glimpse of promise when Michael Toglia absolutely crushed a solo home run to right field that traveled 407 feet. 🎉 That brought the score to 4-1, but unfortunately, our bats went quiet again soon after.

The Floodgates Open

The game truly slipped away in the bottom of the 7th inning when Molina gave up another four runs, including a two-run double by Jeimer Candelario and a homer by Tyler Stephenson—his second of the game. Despite our efforts, our bullpen just couldn't hold the Reds down.

In the ninth inning, Aaron Schunk pinch hit for McMahon, but he too struck out swinging. Brenton Doyle did walk, giving us a bit of hope, but Jacob Stallings grounded into a double play to end the game.

Final score: Rockies 1, Reds 8. Not the result we were hoping for.

Looking Ahead

On to the next game, Rockies. Let’s keep our heads up and hope our bats come alive next time. It’s a long season, and we’ll have plenty more opportunities to turn it around. Until then, let’s keep cheering for our boys. Go Rockies! 💪⚾
