Slow Start for the Tigers
The bats were a bit sleepy today in the first two innings for both teams, keeping the scoreboard empty. The Tigers couldn't gain any momentum with Parker Meadows flying out to center, Kerry Carpenter lining out to third, and Riley Greene striking out swinging in the first. The second inning wasn't much better as Colt Keith, Jace Jung, and Spencer Torkelson all went down quickly.Rockies Strike First, But Tigers Respond
In the top of the 3rd, the Rockies' Jordan Beck hit a homer to left center, putting the Rockies up 1-0. But our Tigers didn't stay silent for long! In the bottom of the 4th, Riley Greene singled to right, followed by a walk from Jace Jung. Then, Spencer Torkelson came through with a clutch double to left, driving in both Greene and Jung. The Tigers took a 2-1 lead!Tough Luck in the 7th and 9th Inning
The Tigers held their lead until the 7th inning when the Rockies managed to tie it up. In the top of the 9th, they added two more runs, putting us behind 4-2. Despite some fight in the bottom of the 9th with Spencer Torkelson reaching on an infield single and Colt Keith advancing to third, Zach McKinstry struck out swinging to end the game. The final score had the Rockies winning 4-2. It was a tough loss, but let's not hang our heads. There's always the next game, and we showed moments of solid offense and defense today. Let's go Tigers!
