A Tough One for the Rockies
Hey Rockies fans, tough game today as we faced off against the New York Mets. Despite a promising start and some flashy moments, we couldn't pull out the victory, falling 7-3 against the Mets at Citi Field.Mets Strike First
After a scoreless first inning with both teams striking out three times, the Mets broke the deadlock in the bottom of the second. A couple of costly walks and an error by Brendan Rodgers allowed two runs to score, followed by a 2-RBI double by McNeil, making it 4-0.Rockies Get on the Board
In the top of the third inning, Jake Cave launched a solo shot to left field, cutting the deficit to 4-1. It was a much-needed spark for our lineup and gave us hope for a comeback.Another Home Run but Not Enough
We had further life breathed into us in the fifth inning when Charlie Blackmon smashed a two-run homer to right, bringing the score to 4-3. Sadly, that was where our scoring would end. The Mets managed to halt our momentum despite a double by Ezequiel Tovar right after the home run.Lindor’s Late-Inning Heroics
With the game tight, Mets' Francisco Lindor sealed our fate with a three-run blast in the bottom of the eighth inning. That dreaded homer stretched the Mets' lead to 7-3 and put the game out of reach. Even with a fighting spirit, we couldn’t mount a late rally in the ninth inning.Struggles at the Plate
It was a rough day for our lineup overall. Brenton Doyle and Rodgers ending their days hitless, and a total of 13 strikeouts against us definitely didn’t help our chances. We'll need to sharpen up our batting as we look ahead to the next match-up.Looking Forward
So, Rockies Nation, it wasn't our day today. But let's keep the faith—we’ve seen flashes of brilliance, and hopefully, we can bounce back stronger in our next game. Let's go Rockies!Scoreboard for Rockies @ Mets (July 13th, 2024)
