Tough Loss in the Big Apple
Alright Rockies fans, it was another tough outing as our beloved team fell to the Mets 4-2. We showed grit, but in the end, it wasn't enough against a solid Mets lineup. Let's dive into the game highlights.Early Innings Drama
The game kicked off the way no Rockies fan wants – a solo homer from Francisco Lindor in the bottom of the 1st inning put the Mets on the board early. Our boys struggled to find momentum, with Jordan Beck and Ezequiel Tovar both unable to connect in their first at-bats. The opening innings saw us holding our own defensively, yet missing key chances with runners on base. Our first real opportunity came in the top of the 3rd with Hunter Goodman working a walk to load the bases, but we failed to capitalize.Middle Inning Tension
In the 4th inning, the Mets' Starling Marte launched another homer, extending their lead to 3-0. The Rockies responded in the 6th when a double by Ryan McMahon brought Thairo Estrada home, narrowing the gap to 3-1. Then, moments of brilliance! Sam Hilliard stepped up in the 7th, smashing a beautiful homer to bring us back within one run at 3-2. You could feel the energy electrify our bench, but alas, the Mets tightened things up quickly.Closing Challenges
The momentum seemed to be swinging our way until the bottom of the 8th when Francisco Lindor struck again, this time with his second homer of the night. With the score now at 4-2, our Rockies needed to muster a comeback in the 9th. However, Mets closer Edwin Díaz stopped our lineup cold with three consecutive strikeouts, dashing our hopes of a late rally.A Glimmer of Hope
Despite the tough result, it’s worth celebrating Sam Hilliard's fantastic homer, showing he’s a force to reckon with. Hang in there, Rockies fans! We'll be back stronger next game. Keep believing in the purple and black!
