Tough Loss for the Rockies

So, fellow Rockies fans, it was a rollercoaster of emotions today as our boys took on the Padres in San Diego. Despite a late-game surge, we couldn’t quite pull off the victory, ending with a score of 6-9. 😩 The Padres hit hard early, and we found ourselves in catch-up mode pretty quickly. Let's dive into the action and see how it unfolded.

Early Padres Lead

The game started off on a tough note with the Padres seizing an early lead. In the first inning, Fernando Tatis Jr. kicked things off with a single, paving the way for the Padres to score three runs. Our Ezequiel Tovar had a rough start as his error gave the Padres some extra leverage. By the end of the 2nd inning, a home run by Jackson Merrill put them ahead 6-0. Oof! 😩

Rockies Rally Attempt

Despite the unsteady start, our Rockies charged back with Mickey Moniak delivering a solo homer in the 4th, and another clutch three-run blast in the 6th! 🎉 That definitely got us back in the game, bringing the score 7-4. Ezequiel Tovar had a pivotal double in the 7th, scoring Braxton Fulford and making it even closer at 7-6. The excitement was real as Moniak brought in another run!

Padres Hold Strong

Unfortunately, the Padres responded in the 8th, securing their lead with a decisive ground-rule double by Gavin Sheets that extended their lead to 9-6. Our hopes to bounce back were dashed in the 9th inning despite Hunter Goodman reaching base on an error. It wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

We can't win them all, but our Rockies showed heart in their comeback attempt! Let’s focus on the positives, rest up and get ready to cheer them on in the next one. Go Rockies! 🏔️
