Tough Day at the Office for the Rockies
As a devoted Colorado Rockies fan, it pains me to report on a tough outing against the St. Louis Cardinals. Let's dive into how the game unfolded, shall we?A Rocky Start That Set The Tone
The game started off quiet with both teams failing to score in the first inning. Our boys, including Charlie Blackmon, Ezequiel Tovar, and Ryan McMahon, were quickly shut down. Despite this, it felt like we could bounce back as the Cardinals also didn't manage to pull ahead... yet.Cardinals Begin to Take Flight
The Cardinals drew first blood in the bottom of the 2nd inning, courtesy of a sacrifice fly by Pedro Pages to bring Dylan Carlson home. And then, to add insult to injury, Alec Burleson hit a solo homer in the 3rd inning to make it 2-0.The Rockies Struggle to Respond
Our lineup tried to fight back but just couldn't find the openings. Elias Díaz, Brenton Doyle, and Michael Toglia each had moments that gave us a glimmer of hope, but the Cardinals' defense was just too strong. By the end of the 4th inning, the Cardinals had extended their lead to 4-0, and it felt like a mountain too high to climb.A Flicker of Hope
The 5th and 6th innings were quiet, but by the top of the 9th, we managed to light a small spark. Ezequiel Tovar doubled, showing signs of life, and Elias Díaz brought him home with a single. Unfortunately, our late rally wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit, ending the game with a 1-5 loss.Wrapping Up
It's never easy watching our Rockies struggle, especially against a formidable team like the Cardinals. There were moments of promise but ultimately, we couldn't capitalize on them. The season is long, and it's back to the drawing board for our team. Let's regroup, refocus, and look forward to bouncing back in the next game. Rockies fans, let's keep our heads up and support our boys through thick and thin!Scoreboard for Rockies @ Cardinals (June 9th, 2024)
