Tough Battle in Florida
Fellow Rockies fans, it wasn't quite the finish we were hoping for against the Tampa Bay Rays
Early Rays' Fireworks
The game began with some unfortunate fireworks for the Rays in the bottom of the first inning, with Brandon Lowe launching a two-run homer that set an early tone. Though Yandy DÃaz started with a nice double, we managed to contain further damage. After the first inning, it looked like we were settling down, but those two runs came back to haunt us.Rockies Rally Effort
Our Rockies started to claw back in the 5th inning. Michael Toglia doubled to kick things off, followed by Nick Martini driving him in, putting our first run on the board.
Rays Surge in the 6th
Unfortunately, the momentum shifted sharply during the bottom of the 6th. A series of aggressive plays by the Rays, coupled with a couple of errors, allowed them to score four more runs. It was a tough stretch, but Carlos Kinley and the rest of our bullpen gave it their all.
Moniak's Thunderous Comeback
The return of hope came in the 7th inning as Mickey Moniak stepped up and smashed a massive 405-foot homer to center field, bringing us to a 6-4 position. It was electrifying and reminded us why we love this game so much!
Late Innings Struggle
As the game approached its final innings, we had a couple of opportunities to close the gap. Despite showing heart and determination, our final push wasn't quite enough. Nick Martini continued to impress with his hitting, but Pete Fairbanks of the Rays held firm in the 9th to close it out.Even though the game didn't swing in our favor, this Rockies squad showed off their fighting spirit right to the end. Let's keep the faith and root for a big win in our next game! Go Rockies!
