Tough Day at Wrigley: Tigers Fall to Cubs 10-2
Fellow Tigers fans, it wasn’t our day in the Windy City as the Cubs cruised to a 10-2 victory over our boys.Early Innings: Missed Chances
The game started with hope when Matt Vierling got on base with a single in the first, but our offense stumbled afterward, unable to capitalize. The Cubs' pitching kept our lineup in check, and we couldn't squeeze anything out of our early opportunities. By the end of the second inning, we'd already faced a 4-0 hole following Miguel Amaya's three-run homer.Middle Innings: More Cubs Dominance
Moving into the middle innings, the Cubs extended their lead. Cody Bellinger's RBI single in the fourth made it 6-0. Our bats were icy as we struggled to get anything going against the Cubs’ pitching staff. Strikeouts were the theme of the day—Jake Rogers, Kerry Carpenter, and Dillon Dingler all went down swinging multiple times.Late Innings: A Glimmer of Hope Gone
Finally, in the 7th inning, we got on the board! Colt Keith singled before Spencer Torkelson blasted a two-run homer to left center. It was a rare bright spot in a rough game, bringing the score to 6-2. However, the Cubs answered right back with four more runs in the bottom of the inning, solidifying their stranglehold on the game.Final Push and Takeaways
As we entered the 9th inning, we tried to mount a final push, but the Cubs' bullpen closed the door, ending the game at 10-2.It was a tough loss, Tigers fans, but let's not lose heart. Ups and downs are part of the game, and we’ll be back to fight another day. Roar on, Tigers!
