The game started off as a classic pitcher’s duel. Both teams struggled to get on base, and the first four innings were a mix of strikeouts and routine outs. Kudos to our pitching staff for keeping the Reds quiet early on. In the top of the 2nd, Carson Kelly drew a walk, but we couldn’t capitalize—Justyn-Henry Malloy and Gio Urshela couldn’t drive him in.Mid-Game Tension
Things got tense in the bottom of the 5th. Spencer Steer and Nick Martini both got on base with a walk and Stephenson followed with a double, driving in two runs to give the Reds a lead. Our guys held their ground after that, with Garrett Hill coming in and striking out the next two batters to stop the momentum. The Unforgettable 8th Inning
Everything changed in the top of the 8th inning. It started with Parker Meadows doubling to right, giving us some hope. Then, Wenceel Perez, who came in as a pinch hitter, smashed a two-run homer! That leveled the game at 2-2, but we weren’t done yet.Matt Vierling walked, followed by back-to-back hits from Andy Ibáñez and Mark Canha. Canha’s double drove in two more runs, giving us a 4-2 lead. When Zach McKinstry grounded out, Ibáñez scored to make it 5-2. What an inning!
Closing it Out
In the bottom of the 9th, the Reds tried to rally. Spencer Steer hit a solo homer to center, cutting our lead to 5-3. But Chafin came in to shut the door, striking out Espinal to seal the victory. Foley and Miller also deserve some love for holding things together in the late innings.Player Highlights
