Tigers Fall to Astros in a Tough Loss
Hey Tigers fans, it was a tough one tonight against the Astros. Our boys just couldn't get the bats going and the Astros took advantage early. Let's break down the game.Early Struggles at the Plate
The first inning didn't start well for us. Wenceel Perez, Matt Vierling, and Riley Greene all went down in order. It was a grim beginning as the Astros took control from the get-go. Jose Altuve singled and moved to second on a wild pitch, eventually scoring on a single by Yordan Alvarez. We were down 0-1 early on.Altuve's Big Blast
By the end of the second inning, things went from bad to worse. Jose Altuve hit a monstrous homer to center, scoring Mauricio Dubon and Chas McCormick. Suddenly, we found ourselves down 0-4. Ouch!Pitching Woes Continue
Our pitching couldn’t keep the Astros under control. Kenta Maeda struggled and by the time Tyler Holton and Jason Foley came in, the damage was already done. At least Foley showed some fight, striking out McCormick looking and managing to keep Altuve at bay in the 8th.A Glimmer of Hope?
In the 9th inning, there was a brief moment of hope. Andy Ibáñez came in and doubled, allowing Mark Canha to score. Finally, we got on the board! But, alas, that was it. Jake Rogers, who hit for Akil Baddoo, struck out swinging to end our rally. The final score: Astros 4, Tigers 1.Looking Ahead
We had some good moments but just couldn’t string them together. Our bats need to wake up and our pitching needs to tighten up. Let's shake this one off and come back stronger in the next game! Keep the faith, Tigers fans!Scoreboard for Tigers @ Astros (June 16th, 2024)
