Tigers' Hot Start in the First Inning
Hey Tigers fans! We started strong right out of the gate in the first inning. Wenceel Pérez singled to center to kick things off. An error by the Angels' shortstop allowed Riley Greene to reach, and we had Pérez safely at second. Bases got loaded after Matt Vierling's infield single. Though Mark Canha fouled out, Colt Keith grounded into a fielder's choice that allowed Pérez to score. So, we took an early 1-0 lead!
Third Inning Rollercoaster
The bottom of the third was a wild ride. Nolan Schanuel and Luis Rengifo set the stage with a walk and a single. A disastrous wild pitch allowed Schanuel to tie the score, and Rengifo soon followed on another wild pitch. The Angels took a 2-1 lead, but we never back down!Bouncing Back in the Fourth and Sixth
In the fourth, Colt Keith and Gio Urshela both singled, and Keith scored on Zach McKinstry's fielder’s choice. Justyn-Henry Malloy followed up with a single that brought McKinstry to third. Jake Rogers hit a sac fly to put us back on top 3-2!
The sixth inning was a beauty! Malloy was hit by a pitch, paving the way for an amazing two-run homer by Rogers! We extended our lead to 5-2, and it felt so good.
Seventh Inning: Angels Rallied
Things got a bit shaky in the seventh. Luis Rengifo singled, and a fielding error by Greene put runners on the corners. Taylor Ward doubled to bring in two runs, narrowing our lead to just 5-4. We needed to hold strong!Letting it Slip in the 8th
Logan O'Hoppe hit a solo homer to tie the game at 5-5. Our lead was gone, and it was nail-biting time as the game went into extras!Heartbreak in the 10th
We couldn't capitalize in the top of the 10th, and Luis Guillorme's sacrifice bunt set up Ward to score the winning run on Kevin Pillar's single. Final score: Angels 6, Tigers 5. A tough pill to swallow, but we'll come back stronger next time. Always a Tiger!
